SPARK Professional Development: Outdoors

This event is no longer on sale.

Thursday June 9

9:00 AM  –  1:45 PM

The school year is wrapping up but it's never too early to think ahead to the following year!

During the pandemic, outdoor spaces offered a safe way of learning for many teachers and children. As field trips are once again permitted by the DOE, learn about local Bronx resources and new methods for engaging kids in outdoor learning through a hands-on workshop with Bronx Children’s Museum and Roberto Clemente State Park.

Breakfast and lunch will be served, a roundtrip MetroCard will be provided, and educators will leave with a Field Trip LaunchBox to help prepare them for their next outdoor excursion.

3 CTLE credit hours available.

Workshops include:

A) Nature Play: Connecting the Classroom to the Outdoors: Learn more about project-based learning and how to connect outdoor experiences to classroom activities related to art, science, math, social studies, and literacy. Led by Bronx Children's Museum.
B) Creating Safe Spaces Outdoors: Taking children outside the classroom, especially those with disabilities or behavioral challenges, can be a stressful experience. Take home some tips to help prepare for your next field trip in this hands-on workshop. Led by Tracy L. Gray of Sankofa Global Project.
